Tomorrow marks the beginning of our first athletic event of the 2026-2027 school year. Our volleyball teams will open their season against Worley here at CMMS. We are excited to begin another year of competition and look forward to seeing our students support our student-athletes.

As we begin the season, we want all McKinzey Lions to represent our school with pride, respect, and sportsmanship. Whether competing on the court or cheering in the stands, we expect our students and spectators to model the values of The Texas Way. We also ask our families and fans to help us create a positive and supportive environment for athletes, coaches, officials, and fellow spectators throughout the season.

The Three Pillars of The Texas Way

A commitment to show respect to all participants, including coaches, players, officials, and fans, because of who we are, not because of what others do. Respect, The Texas Way, is given generously.

A commitment to place boundaries on our thoughts, words, and actions while managing emotions during competition and adversity. Self-control, The Texas Way, means handling difficult situations with class and keeping emotions in check.

3. Spirit of Competition
A commitment to give our very best effort and put our team in the best position to succeed without sacrificing our integrity. Competition, The Texas Way, is about more than the scoreboard.

We want to foster a culture of competition that is grounded in respect, character, and class, both as competitors and as fans.
 

Expectations for Students Attending Athletic Events

Please review the following expectations with your student before they attend any athletic event this season:

• Students who remain on campus after school for an athletic event must exit the building at dismissal and wait outside until the doors open for spectators. They must purchase a ticket for admission and remain in dress code.
• Students are required to have their student ID to enter the event and must wear it throughout the event. This is a requirement for all MISD middle school athletic events.
• Students are expected to sit in the designated student section and cheer appropriately for their teams. Students should not be socializing in hallways, standing areas, or walking around during games.
• Students should not interact with athletes or game officials during competition.
• Students are expected to follow The Texas Way and demonstrate respectful behavior at all times.
• Students should be picked up within 15 minutes of the conclusion of the event. Students who are consistently not picked up on time may lose the privilege of attending future athletic events.
• Students will be given one opportunity to correct inappropriate behavior. Continued misconduct will result in being asked to leave the event.
• Any events at Newsom Stadium or RL Anderson stadium will be subject to the expectation of these venues.
